How TikTok Engagement Rate Is Calculated
This calculator sums your average likes, comments and shares per video into a single engagement figure, then expresses it two ways: engagement rate by views (engagements ÷ average views × 100) and engagement rate by followers (engagements ÷ followers × 100). Because TikTok distributes videos to non-followers through the For You Page, engagement-by-views is the more reliable read on content quality — a video can rack up a high view-rate engagement score even from an account with modest followers.
Performance is benchmarked using the by-views engagement rate: 15%+ is rated Viral, 8–15% is High, 4–8% is Good, and anything below 4% is Below Average. These bands are wider than Instagram's because TikTok's algorithm tends to reward interaction-heavy content more aggressively.
Creator Fund & Sponsorship Estimates
The TikTok Creator Fund historically pays roughly $0.02–$0.04 per 1,000 views, so this tool multiplies your monthly view total (average views × videos posted per month) by that range to give a low–high monthly payout estimate. The sponsorship rate estimate uses a simplified planning benchmark of about $75 per 10,000 followers for a single sponsored post — a starting reference point only; real rates are negotiated and depend heavily on niche, engagement quality and campaign scope.
Worked Example
An account with 50,000 followers averaging 15,000 views, 900 likes, 75 comments and 120 shares per video, posting 20 videos/month: total engagements = 1,095, engagement rate by views = 7.3% (Good), monthly views = 300,000, Creator Fund estimate = $6.00–$12.00/month, and sponsorship estimate = ~$375/post.
