How to Use the Unit Converter

Select a category (length, weight, temperature, etc.), enter your value, choose the input and output units, and the result appears instantly — no button needed. All conversions support both metric and imperial systems.

Common Conversion Examples

All conversions use exact SI-standard ratios. No signup required — results are calculated locally in your browser.

The Conversion Formula

Most conversions are a simple multiplication: Output = Input × Conversion Factor (e.g., km → miles uses a factor of 0.6214). Temperature is the exception, requiring an offset: °F = (°C × 9/5) + 32.

Worked Example

Converting a recipe measurement: 2.5 kg of flour to pounds.

  1. Step 1: Conversion factor: 1 kg = 2.2046 lbs
  2. Step 2: 2.5 × 2.2046 = 5.51 lbs

Frequently Asked Questions

All conversions use exact SI-standard conversion ratios, not rounded approximations, so results are precise to the decimal places shown.
°F = (°C × 9/5) + 32. To convert the other way: °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9.
The US uses the imperial/US customary system while most of the world uses the metric system, standardized internationally as SI units in 1960.
