About the Luggage Weight Calculator

Airlines set different weight limits for cabin (carry-on) and checked bags, and charge per-kilogram excess fees when you go over. This tool comes pre-loaded with typical limits for a few common carrier types — budget European carriers (around 10kg cabin, no free checked allowance), British Airways (23kg cabin and checked), Emirates and Singapore Airlines (7kg cabin, 30kg checked), Delta (23kg checked), and IndiGo (7kg cabin, 20kg checked) — or you can enter your own custom limits for any airline not listed.

Enter your actual bag weights and it calculates how much you're over (if at all) for each bag type, and estimates the excess-baggage fee using your per-kilogram fee rate and number of bags. Always confirm the exact current limits and fees on your airline's own baggage policy page before flying, since these details change and vary by fare class and route.

The tool adds up how many kilograms you're over the cabin limit and the checked limit, multiplies that total by your fee-per-kilogram rate, and multiplies again by the number of bags you're checking.
