Roaming vs. Local SIM vs. eSIM
Network roaming with your home carrier is simplest but can be the most expensive option outside a covered region (for example, EU-to-EU roaming is typically free or cheap under EU rules, but long-haul roaming often is not). A local physical SIM is usually the cheapest option for longer trips but requires an unlocked phone and swapping SIM cards. An eSIM offers a middle ground — competitive pricing without swapping a physical card — provided your phone supports it.
Your estimated data need is calculated as: daily GB × usage multiplier (light ×0.5, moderate ×1, heavy ×2) × trip days. That total is then priced under each of the three connectivity options so you can compare directly.
